Case Background

On November 14, 2016, American Apparel, LLC and five affiliated debtors (collectively, the "Debtors") each filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.  The cases are pending before the Honorable Judge Brendan Linehan Shannon and are jointly administered under Case No. 16-12551.

A hearing on the Debtors' First Day Motions was held on November 15, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. Notice to Gift Card Holders

You may have heard that American Apparel has agreed to sell its business. As a result, certain retail stores may be closing. Until this process is final, the Company is discontinuing the sale of new gift cards. Customers holding gift cards should use them by December 31, 2016, as they may not be honored after the potential sale of the Company.

Customers who purchased gift cards outside of the United States should contact the foreign administrator for the proceeding in the country where they purchased the gift card.  Please find the foreign administrator list in the link below:

Auction of Company Assets

On November 14, 2016, the Debtors filed a motion to sell substantially all of their assets. On December 5, 2016, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order approving bidding and auction procedures in connection with such sale and on January 9-10, 2017, the Debtors conducted an auction. At the conclusion of this auction, the Debtors selected Gildan Activewear SRL as the Successful Bidder for the Debtors' intellectual property assets, wholesale inventory and certain equipment. In addition, the Debtors selected three Successful Bidders for certain of their non-residential unexpired leases. More information on the results of the auction can be found at Docket No. 451.
